"I appreciate Christine's blend of teaching animal habits, anatomy, and environment so participants are knowledgeable and prepared for each sketching lesson. I've gained investigation skills for nature observation, and I'm a better artist because of Christine's courses. And she's so encouraging- no pressure and all fun!"

Your Instructor
I've been fascinated by the ocean my entire life. In college, I studied marine biology and earned my SCUBA license, and have since dove and snorkeled in such diverse places as the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, the Galapagos, and the South Pacific.
I hold both PADI and NAUI dive certifications and have been lucky to explore many dive sites from the coral reefs of the Caribbean and the Celebes Sea to the kelp forests of central California. I’ve dove with hammerhead sharks in the Galapagos Islands and observed cleaner wrasses grooming giant groupers on coral reefs.
I've held internships and jobs at a variety of organizations focused on marine biology including the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the California Marine Mammal Center and Moss Landing Marine Lab.
While working as a high school and college biology instructor, I designed and taught upper-division elective courses in marine biology.
In 2006 I earned a graduate degree in science illustration from the University of California and have since worked on a variety of ocean-themed projects for scientists, environmental education groups, and conservation organizations.
I love teaching folks about the marine environment and inspiring folks to care about all the ocean's inhabitants; from sea slugs to whale sharks!
