I’m thrilled that you’re joining me on this journey to discover the beauty and mystery of nature’s treasures through the practice of observing and sketching the wonders of the world.

I’m looking forward to both inspiring and educating you on the fascinating intersection of art and science. Developing a nature sketching/journaling practice is a fun and healthy activity that can be enjoyed by the whole family. It gives you a great reason to get outdoors, provides a much-needed break from our technology-filled world, sharpens your senses and observation skills, and offers a time for quiet contemplation, meditation, and mindfulness of your surroundings. And most importantly, the act of sketching what you observe in the natural world deepens your understanding and empathy for the living creatures that share our earth and upon which we depend for our ultimate survival.

This membership program is designed to help you develop a daily (or at least a regular) sketching practice, by providing inspiration, creative prompts, tutorials and printable guides. It is not meant to be a complete course in drawing, but to give you a solid foundation to build upon. We will address (and hopefully conquer) the many obstacles that students in my live workshops have faced in developing such a practice.

The activities are designed for anyone with an interest in nature and a desire to explore it in a creative way. It is appropriate for both adults and older children (approximately 10+ years old) such as those with a keen interest in the outdoors and good hand-eye coordination.

Foundational Content

Below you'll find a 'library' of content to get you started with the basic tools and techniques for nature sketching and journaling including video tutorials, step-by-step downloadable guides, and links to additional resources, all of which are designed to inspire you to develop a sketching practice that I hope will nurture your soul and open your heart to the beauty of our planet.

Monthly

Each month I'll create new content for you that will be added to your library. This will vary with and be inspired by the season and my own creative whims and nature discoveries. For example, you might get a new video tutorial on a fun tool or technique, how to sketch a particular plant or animal, journaling prompts, right-brain drawing exercises, or a live Q and A session hosted online. Please watch your email (at the address you used to sign up for this program) for updates to The Nature Nook that I send out near the beginning of each month.

What materials do I need?

All you’ll need is a pencil and paper to start on the path to drawing the natural world with ease and confidence. I will share additional art and journaling materials with you that you may wish to add in the future. 

How long do I have access to the material?

As a monthly membership program, it's similar to your phone service or gym membership. You have access each month that you are a member.

The benefit of this model is that you get new content on a regular basis compared to just buying a static course. A subscription model also allows me to offer the material at a lower price than a stand-alone course. Another benefit is that you get new content every month that will help you maintain a regular practice and give you new and interesting projects to try each month.

What if I want to cancel my subscription?

Since The Nature Nook is a monthly subscription program, you are automatically billed each month using the payment method you signed up for. If you wish to cancel and stop your payments, you need to do so from your Teachable log-in page. Once you cancel your subscription, you will no longer have access to The Nature Nook.

What is the refund policy?

If you want to cancel your membership because you're unhappy with the content, I will gladly refund your latest membership payment. The Nature Nook, like all programs on the Teachable platform, offers a 14-day money-back guarantee.
