Virtual Sketching Expedition: Costa Rica

DetailsIn this virtual sketching expedition, I'll take you to Costa Rica, based on trips I've taken there over the years. I'll show you photos and videos and you'll practice doing quick sketches as if you were in the field with me.

We'll be sketching a variety of flora and fauna, from poison dart frogs to colorful quetzals, using photos and videos I shot in the field. We'll 'travel' from the hot, steamy lowland jungles on the Atlantic coast to the cool, misty cloud forests of Monteverde.

SUGGESTED MATERIALS

Since this workshop is meant to simulate you being on a sketching tour with me, I suggest that you keep your materials simple as if you are in the field; a sketchbook composed of multimedia paper, a sketching pencil, and a waterproof pen.

Please download your Costa Rica Wildlife Reference Photos (linked below), then watch the workshop below, and finally, watch the bonus field videos for more sketching practice.

Enjoy!

VIDEOS FOR SKETCHING PRACTICE

Below you'll find a series of videos I shot in the wild and at rescue centers for your sketching pleasure. Enjoy!
