Curassows; Family Cracidae

Guans, Chachalacas and Curassow Family Workshop

The Cracidae family includes large and elegant birds of woodlands and forests. They are a small and strictly Neotropical family of 56 species.

These highly prized game birds are often the first to disappear once civilization arrives in an area, so they are quite shy and difficult to observe in the field.

In this 90-minute workshop, I'll share stories of my lucky glimpses of these rare birds in Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Mexico.

You'll also learn about the biology and anatomy of the three groups of species in this family; the chachalacas, guans, curassows, and we will draw a Great Curassow in a step-by-step demonstration.
